The best areas to stay in Comunidad De Puerto Rico are along the main road that runs through the community or in the more secluded, river-side lodges for a nature-focused experience. For travellers seeking a balance of convenience and local interaction, staying along the main road, which is often referred to as the Via Puerto Rico, is ideal. This area provides easier access to local shops, small eateries, and transport links. Guests here can easily arrange excursions and experience the daily life of the community.Couples looking for a peaceful and immersive jungle experience will find the river-side lodges particularly appealing. These lodges are typically located deeper into the rainforest, often accessible by canoe from the main road. They offer direct access to the Puni River and surrounding nature, with opportunities for guided jungle walks, birdwatching, and enjoying the tranquility of the Amazon.

The best time to visit Comunidad De Puerto Rico is during the drier months, which typically run from December to February and again from August to September. While the rainforest experiences rain year-round, these periods offer a higher chance of clear skies and less frequent downpours.Travelling during these drier windows means you'll have more comfortable conditions for exploring the Amazon rainforest. Activities like jungle treks, river excursions, and wildlife spotting are generally more enjoyable without consistent heavy rain. It also makes getting around the sometimes unpaved local roads a bit easier. However, if you're keen to see the rivers at their fullest or prefer fewer other visitors, the wetter months (March to July and October to November) also have their advantages. The rainforest is incredibly lush during this time, and you might experience more dramatic river flows, though some activities could be impacted by heavy rain.
